is the ratio of nativist callers to pro-migrant callers to the offices of congressional representatives in recent immigration law fights in the house and senate.

I invite anyone from the pro-migrant community to in California's 39th Congressional District to join me at Linda Sanchez's district office in Cerritos, CA to present a rational case for comprehensive immigration reform to help equip our congressional ally to oppose the Shuler/Tancredo Save Act and any other enforcement only legislation.

We will need to get organized to do this right.

1. Articulate some reasonable objectives for our meeting
2. Develop some written collateral that will be helpful to communicate the truth to the congressperson.
3. Practice the right spokespersons for our meeting
4. Learn about the congresswoman's current position on various immigration issues
5. Meet and understand the roles of various staff members in the district office
6. Arrange an appropriate meeting
   
7. Make our case
8. Follow up routinely.

I had a meeting with an experienced community organizer last week and we talked about the importance of engaging congressional staffers and leaders in person even if they are already on the side of justice. An important function of this kind of work is to get good information and tools to the right people.
